Evaluate your family's needs and
wants. How many people will be using
the RV?
If you're a couple with three or
four kids, perhaps an 8-foot truck
camper is not such a good idea. So
ask yourself these questions:
* Do I want a tag along trailer or a
5th wheel trailer?
* How much living space will I need?
Would I like a slideout for more
room?
* How many beds do I need? How many
people do I need to sleep?
* Do I want bunk beds or Jack and
Jill beds? (double bed on the
bottom, single bunk on top)
* Do I want to have a hide-a-bed/or
sofa bed?
* What can I absolutely not live
without?
* How much storage area do I need?
* How sophisticated do I want the
entertainment center to be?
* Do I even need an entertainment
center? Do I want a DVD/Stero
player?
* Do I need to have a three seasons
RV? Will I be using it in cold
weather?
* What kind of floor plan am I
looking for?
* Do I want a Softwall or Hardwall?
* Slideouts – Most recreation
vehicles now come equipped with
slideouts. Slideouts are rooms that
extend out from the RV when setup.
For travel, they retract into the
main body of the RV. Slideouts can
add substantially to the usable
square footage inside any RV. They
are an added bonus and pretty much
standard today
A 3.6 ft deep slide by 10 ft long,
will give you an additional living
space of 36 sq ft. That's a lot of
room in an RV!
Used RV's without slideouts may have
a lower resale or trade-in value
when you decide to move up to a
larger or newer RV.
